Choosing a Reputable Contractor for Home Remodeling
OMAHA, Neb.— Jan. 12, 2005 — Homeowners must be wary when choosing contractors for home remodeling. The recent, sudden closing of an Omaha area remodeling company is a stark example of the consequences of selecting the wrong contractor.
Trustworthiness is the most important reason for selecting a certain remodeler. 79 percent of homeowners who have recently remodeled believe trustworthiness is the most important factor, according to a recent survey by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). 75 percent of homeowners said service and dependability was an important reason.
Quality is the most important aspect of remodeling for homeowners. 95 percent of homeowners who recently remodeled said quality is very important, and 60% said price is very important, according to the NARI study.
Homeowners should thoroughly research contractors. A brochure is available from NARI that details what to look for and what questions to ask. The brochure can be downloaded from the website www.nari.org or ordered by calling 800-611-6274. Questions include asking for a list of referrals and suppliers and how long a company has been in business.
“Thorough research is key to choosing a reputable, quality remodeler,” said Jim Carlson, president of Betterliving Patios & Sunrooms. “Track record, referrals and professional affiliations are all indicators of the quality and reliability of the company you’re dealing with.”
Betterliving Patio & Sunrooms of Omaha is locally owned and has been building in the metro since 1999. They are a member of the Better Business Bureau.
